The Yard Signs Are In...and Coming to a Yard Near You!!

I got my yard signs in today. So I will immediately begin putting them out.

This is huge! It was kinda cool seeing my name on a sign with the word "elect". Maybe it means this is the beginning of something bigger than me. Or maybe it means this is the beginning of serving and providing a voice for my friends and neighbors. Either way, this is a responsibility that can't be taken lightly.

I look forward to meeting many of the residents of ward 4. And I look forward to being able to represent them!

Supporting the "O'Bryant for Bryant" Campaign

Serving my fellow citizens has been a passion of mine for quite some time now. It began with a 4th grade class presidency, carried on through high school student council, and lasted throughout my college years as a student senator. My experience as a public administrator for the largest county in the state along with my vested interest of raising a family within the City of Bryant, has culminated in my decision to seek elected office. After prayerful consideration and family discussions, I have thrown my hat in the ring to serve the constituents of Bryant’s 4th Ward as Alderman

As you may know, my career as a public administrator has entailed developing and administering youth and environmental programs for Pulaski County Government. My work with local government began with an ACT program that helped students gain admission to college. I also implemented a summer internship program to prepare students for work in the public and non-profit sectors. Currently, I administer a $3.6 million program which focuses on the redevelopment and revitalization of contaminated properties.

These programs are successes because of the needs they meet and the partnerships that make them happen. My hope, as alderman, is to bring the same approach to meeting the needs of the citizens of Bryant’s 4th Ward.

My platform is as follows:
1) To implement a streamlined process of hearing and addressing citizen concerns
2) To implement innovative and cost effective ways for Bryant City Government and Bryant’s citizens to “go green”
3) To develop the necessary partnerships which will nurture the planned growth of the City of Bryant

As you can see, I am excited at the possibility of serving the people of this great city. But before I can serve, I must conduct a very effective campaign.

To be successful in this endeavor, it will take a very strong and dedicated grass roots organization. I believe voters in this district will step forward with my family in a united volunteer effort. As you may have guessed, my wife has been hard at work designing flyers and building winning strategies of her own. She has volunteered to help knock on doors and place yard signs throughout the ward.

With hundreds of pamphlets to purchase and a couple hundred yard signs to order, I will need your help. I am turning to the people who have known me the longest, who know me best, and humbly invite you to get involved in my campaign and help make a difference.

Your contribution, made payable to “O’Bryant for Bryant City Council” will give our campaign a tremendous boost.

Your gift of $10, $25 or $50 will help me raise the money I need to successfully run this campaign. Our goal is to raise $1,000.00 by October 1st, and I humbly ask for your support.

Thanks in advance for your encouragement, generous support, and prayers. Jacqueline and I are both grateful for your friendship and wish you many blessings!

Here is a recent article, from the Bryant Daily, about my campaign for alderman of Ward 4, Position 1.

A Little Bit About Me

Sam O’Bryant began his career with Pulaski County government an Assistant Program Coordinator for Pulaski County Youth Services in 2005. His work with Pulaski County Youth Services has included expanding and developing programs, grant writing, community outreach, and public relations.

In 2008, Sam made the transition to Pulaski County Community Services as its Brownfields Program Administrator. His primary duties involve the administration of $3.6 million in federal grant funds used for environmental redevelopment, marketing and outreach of the brownfields program, and collaborative efforts to protect public health and promote economic opportunity through brownfields redevelopment.

In the community, Sam is a member of the City of Bryant Water/Wastewater Committee. Sam is also a member of Class XXIII of the Leadership Greater Little Rock program and currently serves as Secretary on the LGLR Alumni Association Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Covenant Keepers College Preparatory Charter School and the Centers for Youth and Families. Sam was recently listed as a 40 Under 40 honoree, by Arkansas Business, for 2010.

Sam’s wife, Jacqueline, is a 2007 Honors graduate of the UALR Bowen School of Law. She is currently employed as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with Arkansas' 6th Judicial District. They are the parents of 4-year old Sam, IV and 1-year old Jacob. Together they are members of St. Mark Baptist Church. Both Sam and Jacqueline are natives of Mississippi, but Arkansas has been their home since 2004. The O’Bryants have lived in Bryant since 2006.

The Beginning

Well...I've taken a small step into a larger world. I filed for office (on the last day) to run for alderman for the City of Bryant, AR.

Right now, I am working on campaign signs and doing all the other stuff that goes along with running for office.

This morning I was able to get the #1 ballot position for my race...and I am really excited about that!
